Tiny Tales: Fern the Watcher, Speck the Sleepy Star

Yesterday was a big day in the Lavender Wolf household. Little Speck had her spay surgery and spent the whole afternoon at the vet, returning home groggy, wobbly, and wrapped in that soft post‑anesthesia fog. I tucked her into a quiet kennel, dim and cozy, so she could drift in and out of sleep without the bustle of the house around her.

But Fern had other plans.

In true Pantheon fashion, Fern appointed herself Guardian of the Groggy One. She curled under the blanket outside Speck’s kennel — not inside with her, not across the room, but right there, stationed like a tiny sentinel. Every rustle, every sleepy sigh from Speck, Fern was listening. Watching. Keeping vigil.
